This is often done when a student purchases a Chromebook from a school and then ‘leaves’. Please note that this process is not to be done with Chromebooks that are ‘end of life’. Once a device hits end of life it is unsafe to use and is not a suitable way to get rid of old Chromebooks. PWPSD uses devices until they are no longer serviceable, and then they are disposed of properly. Please see this article PWPSD - Older Chromebook Turn In for more info about PWPSD models that are End of Life. This process is used only in the situations a parent has ‘paid’ for has ‘paid/has been given by the site’ the device provided by a PWPSD site and then the student leaves for some reason.

  1. Parent contacts the school and provide the Serial number (on the bottom of the Chromebook it is usually listed as S/N: and is 22 or so characters).

  2. The site confirms that the student is eligible to ‘own’ the device and contacts PWPSD IT with a serial number to remove it from management. (https://pwpsd.zendesk.com/hc)

  3. We will remove the device from management and attempt to force the device to enter the wipe process. If that does not work the student will need to wipe the device before it can be used with one of the two below processes.
