How to increase the Maximum volume of VLC Media Player

Tested with v 3.0.20.0

  1. Open the Application.

  2. Open PREFERENCES from the TOOLS menu.

  3. Toggle the Settings from SIMPLE to ALL

  4. Find INTERFACE → MAIN INTERFACES → Qt in the left menu.

  5. Change Maximum Volume Displayed from 125 to 150 or maybe 200. You can go up to 300% but that is not advisable. There will be a wide range of volumes within other tools you may use and if everything is maxed and you use a louder (generally most modern) video in VLC it will be LOUD and may blow the speakers.

  6. You must restart the app for these settings to take effect.
